A HIDDEN GEEM; MY HOMELAND GEORGIA

As a Georgian I think it is a great privilege to tell people about this often undiscovered and small country located between Europe and Aisa with welcoming people and wonderful nature and its historic roots.

The capital city of Georgia is Tbilisi, the word tbili- can actually be translated to warm, which I assure you that Georgians are when it comes to hospitality and guests. This city is full of life and colour, old Tbilisi is my favourite as this is where you can find the old traditional buildings as well as lovely traditional restaurants and cafes. Tbilisi has many historic churches but one of the most beautiful church is called Sameba which you can see illuminated completely at night.

Georgian cuisine has been famous among tourists for their delicious foods, such as khachapuri, our cheese filled bread or khinkali , juicy and delicious dumplings. But Georgia is also famous for its wine, which has a history of over 8,000 years, with many vineyards in Georgia, all wine coming from homegrown Georgian grapes.

The nature in Georgia is beautiful, as Georgia is located in the caucus region, the Caucasus mountains can be seen from nearly everywhere, the mountain views to the pure fresh air and green fields are a perfect escape from busy city life. Kazbegi is a town in the country side with beautiful mountain views and peaceful environments.

Georgia prides itself in their many historic churches, such as the trinity church built on the mountains in Kazbegi. The orthodox religion has been kept throughout history, which has been protected and maintained in Georgia throughout many wars to present day with even the Georgian flag representing 5 crosses.

Even if you’re feeling a warm sunny beach retreat, Georgia has it all. The city of Batumi is fast growing and even gets referred to as mini-Dubai with the development of many large tall buildings and modern structures. Batumi has become a beach city tourist attraction. The water is warm, and the weather in summer gets over 30 degrees with great restaurants and nightlife too. Another great thing about Georgia is that everything is relatively cheap when compared to Europe prices so a holiday there, wont break the bank!

What I love the most is how welcoming Georgian people are as we believe that a guest is a gift from God and all visitors should feel welcomed and at home in the land of Georgia. So if you’re looking for beautiful nature, delicious cheap food, and welcoming people I suggest you look more into Georgia, I can promise you might fall in love with this small hidden gem!
